Prodjex was commissioned to redevelop a historic site in Barnet for Enterprise Rent-A-Car. The site, formerly an old pub with a coach house, required a sensitive yet modern transformation to accommodate the client's operational needs while preserving its historical integrity. The project was completed in 4 months, ensuring minimal disruption to the local area.
Enterprise is widely recognised for its 'home-city' locations, offering seamless car rental services tailored to local communities. With a workforce of over 100,000 employees, Enterprise Holdings operates more than 10,000 branches worldwide and manages a fleet exceeding 2 million vehicles. In the UK, Enterprise maintains branches and vehicles within 10 miles of 93% of the population. Our team carefully preserved the historic character of this site while delivering a modern, functional space that meets Enterprise’s operational needs.
Preserving the Coach House’s Heritage
The 195-year-old coach house was carefully deconstructed, with each brick cleaned and reused in the construction of a new rear extension, maintaining the character of the site.
Bespoke timber windows and doors were installed in compliance with Planning regulations to ensure architectural continuity.
Several sheds were demolished to create a larger car park, optimizing space for Enterprise Rent-A-Car's fleet.
A full groundworks package was completed, including trenching for foul and surface water drainage, levelling the site, and resurfacing with Tarmacadam.
A car wash bay slab was installed, complete with foul drainage for environmental compliance.
Flowerbeds were strategically placed to enhance the site's aesthetics and support biodiversity.

Internal upgrades included:
A timber car wash bay was constructed with insulation to minimise noise, a key requirement from Planning due to the surrounding residential area.
Drop bollards and line marking were added for improved traffic flow and site organisation.
The successful transformation of the historic Barnet site provided Enterprise Rent-A-Car with a fully functional, modern facility that met both operational and Planning requirements while preserving its rich heritage. By carefully reusing materials and implementing smart design solutions, Prodjex delivered a high-quality project that seamlessly blended tradition with innovation.
